God looked down on the world and saw that people weren't being kind to one another. The world was filled with hate and anger. God decided to destroy everyone and start the world again. There was a family God chose not to kill, Noah's family. God told Noah to build a large ark to protect every species of animal during the flood. When Noah finished the ark he and his wife had, had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.
Everyone apart from Noah, his family and the animals died and the Earth was no longer a dangerous place. The rain stopped and the ark landed on top of a mountain where Noah began to let the animals go free. God was pleased with Noah so he made a covenant (an agreement) with him and his family. The deal was that Noah and his family must never murder and that his family must have lots of children. In return God promised to never flood the Earth again. Today, the sign of Noah's covenant is a rainbow. Noah is also remembered for the seven laws he obeyed God with: - Don't worship idols. - Don't murder. - Don't steal. - Don't cheat. - Don't insult religions and their beliefs (don't blaspheme). - Don't harm animals. - Establish law courts.
